I am making a map for Halo Custom Edition. This map is based in a tropical vally. The main base design it based on this concept art from the "Halo 3 Art Book"; [link]

Weapons;
I will be using only my weapon models, before you ask, I will be removing all the un needed shit on them, and making LOD's.

Based on Halo 3 Designs.

* Assault Rifle
* Battle Rifle
* Beam Rifle
* Brute Shot
* Covenant Carbine
* Flamethrower
* Fuel Rod Gun
* Gravity Hammer (Maybe)
* Energy Sword (Maybe)
* Machine Gun Turret
* Magnum
* Mauler
* Missile Pod
* Plasma Cannon
* Needler
* Plasma Pistol
* Plasma Rifle
* Rocket Launcher
* Sentinel Beam
* Shotgun
* SMG - Silenced + Unsilenced
* Sniper Rifle
* Spartan Laser
* Spiker

I will remove some weapons, because there are to many there.

Vehicles;
Again, will only be using my models.

* Warthog - Chaingun, Gauss, Troop, Civi.
* Scorpian - Rocket, Flame + Sniper.
* Ghost - Plasma, Brute Style (Spikes)
* Hornet - Normal, Chaingun on back.
* Banshee
* Chopper
* Wraith
* Prowler
* Mongoose

I might model the Halo 3 Recon armer and use it as the character which you play as. This project will take a long time, as there is a LOT to do. once the BSP is done and out of the way it should speed up a bit, although there is still a lot of content to make, weapons, vehicles, effects, devices, scenery, populate map, make LOD's, texture work (Biggy), Portal map and make sure it runs smoothly, which I really doubt it will due to the amount of detail.

Looks very nice, though some of the geometry should be simplified (like the corners on the tower) if this is going to be a large scale map. Can't wait to see further progress!

Looking good, what version of max did you use??

was messing around with halo 2 for Vista and tried importing some BSP for a level and it didnt seem to like it... Maybe it was my version of the exporter or version of max..

Ok, anyway, you recreated the design pretty perfectly, i was working on a map like this in halo 3 forge, in the skybubble on sandbox. I think you should transform it into a docking station, for water ships. maybe add some bridge and cranes,it would also give you an opportunity to make a cool background, letting the water outlet into the sea.

The theme is a tropical vally. I dont think there will be any water in the base.

lol, yea, looks like it will be detailed. anyway, this map model is friggin sweet. your gonna blow this one away, the ODST idea, is a fantastic one. but you will have to make variations of it incase of mistaken identity. you should edit everything in the map to make it seem stealthy. a lot of tree shadows, crowded areas, i can imagine a snipe following a odst trooper running in a stealth gears of war run, and weaving around objects to get cover. but its your map, and i hope it goes well for you, btw ive come to believe this is your first. never seen a render of one prior, never heard talk of, all the forums you post in, dont have correlation with maps. just making a observation...

I have made maps before, and I have learnt a lot over my time in the community. I am hoping to make it high res.

And I plan on making all of the content stealthy, and have camo on I think. and maybe veins comeing from it which is put on to help hide.

And thanks :)

no prob, but what veins do you describe? sounds wierd, explain more please. also, if its for custom youll need to have maybe an excess engine, or a specific flash player as a part of installation in the zip or something, lol highres seems dangerous, but after texs and LODs, this map would an amazing piece of landscape to render various items and models on...

I meant vines sorry Lol. From trees, the kind of stuff the army use to camo their weapons.

"if its for custom youll need to have maybe an excess engine, or a specific flash player as a part of installation in the zip or something"

What do you mean by that ^?

well, like halo runs on a specific physics engine right? it doesnt really come to mind, or apparently google, but if you put in a script accompanied by a section of maybe the halo 2 havok engine, or the unreal engine, to enhance the playability, and giving them a way to install the source codes from the engine and script somewhere into where halo custom reads the engine data, add that script and it will read it as an add on to halo customs engine. ya know, i dont know how to script, or how to go about anything i just said, but i understand the level of difficulty and the overall process... btw the vines, you mean like gilly suits? that would be awesome. with leaves and natural attachments. great idea.

You are talking about recoding part of the Halo:CE engine. I am making a map, yes?

Well, why would I recode the engine? Do you understand how to make Halo:CE maps, or what it involves?

I do not need to change any physics engines, because one, you can NOT. Unless someone works their magic with the open sauce... (I think i spelt it wrong)

Lol. And yes, like gilly suits.

well, it started as a joke, but i was thinking more for performance, so that halo ce could handle such a detailed map, i didnt literally mean recoding, just an additional source to open for the ability to play, which may take some exceptional coding on either yours, or the other poor soul attempting such a feat. oh well. i still have little detail on the process of converting, coding, or injecting.

I only map, no need to start importing new code into the game. And it isnt as simple as you think.(From what I know)
